UNITED KINGDOM: In the House of Lords, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Lord Halifax, says that the German occupation of Czechoslovakia was "a complete repudiation of the Munich Agreement and a denial of the spirit in which the negotiators of that agreement bound themselves to co-operate for a peaceful settlement." GERMANY: Hitler demands that the district of Memel in Lithuania be returned to Germany. Memel in former East Prussia, with 160,000 inhabitants, was given to Lithuania in the aftermath of the First World War after the Memel convention of 1924.
