JAPAN:  The USN heavy cruiser USS Astoria (CA-34) arrives in Yokohama carrying the remains of the former Japanese Ambassador to the United States, the late Hirosi Saito. In command of the ship is Captain Richmond Kelly Turner. In addition to his normal duties, he is tasked with attempting to photograph the Japanese battleships Yamato and Musashi. USS Astoria sailed for Shanghai, China, on 26 April.
